Islamabad: Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, today accused the government of making an attempt to prevent him from election campaigning in Islamabad.

“In no democracy is a political ldr, esp one not holding any public office, prevented from campaigning for his party in an election,” Imran wrote on his official twitter account.

“Yet attempt was made to prevent me from campaigning for my party in Isl LG polls even though PMLN Ministers & MNAs doing the same,” he added.

The PTI chairman said that he had to evade police blockades/containers by driving through dirt tracks and fields to make it to Taramri public meeting last night.

He said military dictatorship of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was less oppressive than incumbent Nawaz Sharif’s government.

“Having opposed both, I can vouch that Musharraf’s mly (military) dictatorship was less oppressive than Nawaz’s dictatorship in the garb of democracy,” Imran said.

Comparing the two governments, the PTI chairman said police was never used with such brutality as it is being used under Sharif brothers.

“Police was never used with such brutality as it is being used under the Sharifs – as displayed in the Model Town massacre.
